Beaches Along Our Routes

Sometimes all you need is a bit of sun and sea, but you can’t just hop on a plane. Good thing you can just hop on Citylink instead! Here is a guide to how to get to some beautiful beaches using our services. Disclaimer: Before swimming in any of the areas mentioned please be sure to check the water conditions of the beach.

Dublin:

Sandymount

To head to the gorgeous Sandymount Strand, hop off at Bachelor’s walk. Head straight to the C1 bus stop, get on for 12 stops or 20 minutes, getting off in Sandymount, and a quick stroll will get you to the strand. This beach is not one for swimming, but it is perfect for a beautiful walk along the shore!

Malahide

When you get off the bus you want to head straight to Tara Street Dart station, there you will get a North bound dart towards Malahide, once off you can stroll through the gorgeous village, picking up some a picnic, and on towards the beach.

Howth

Similar to Malahide, you’ll want to head straight to the dart station on to a dart towards Howth (this isn't just any North bound dart, specific ones go to Howth), jump off at Sutton and with a quick walk you’ll end up at Sutton Strand a gorgeous beach on the East of Ireland. Or continue to walk and go to the sandy Burrow Beach. Both perfect for a sunny day in Ireland.

Galway:

Salthill

Once you hop off the Citylink bus in the coach station, you can head straight to the 401, only a few minutes’ walk from the coach station. Which will bring you directly to Salthill in a matter of minutes! Then you’ll be set for your West of Ireland beach day!

Clifden

If you want to head even further West, you can head to the beaches of Connemara! Using our 923 service to Clifden, you can really make a day if it by renting bikes in Clifden Bike Shop and cycling only 10 minutes down the road to Clifden Bay Beach. There you will see the most gorgeous blue waters of the Atlantic!

Cork:

Fountainstown

We have hit the West and East so now it’s time to hit the South. You’ve landed in the real capital and ready for a swim. Well from our stops you want to head to South Mall, about a 8-10 minute walk from our stops, and hop on the 220 bus, this bus will bring you directly to Fountainstown beach. A beautiful area with plenty to do, with a shop and water activities available. Perfect place to spend all day sunning.

Athlone:

Baysports

Now for the midlands, and you may be thinking "it's landlocked" but let me assure you, there is till water there! To get to Baysports, along Hudson Bay, you’ll want to get off in Athlone and hop into a taxi to go straight to Baysports. It is only a 10 minute drive and you’d be there before you know it, running along inflatables in your wet suit. This one is perfect for those who prefer more adventurous days, over the laying on the beach kind!
