Irish Citylink is delighted to announce the addition of two new daily return services on its popular Castlebar–Dublin / Dublin Airport route, strengthening direct connectivity between the West of Ireland and the capital.

Approved by the National Transport Authority (NTA), this service enhancement reflects Irish Citylink’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible, high-frequency, and dependable transport options for passengers across Ireland.

From Sunday, 24th May 2026, customers travelling on this route can benefit from:

  • Two additional daily return services
  • Increased service frequency between Castlebar, Dublin City, and Dublin Airport
  • Improved scheduling to support both early departures and later return journeys

Irish Citylink is pleased to announce a significant enhancement to its Galway–Ballina route, with the introduction of three additional daily return services, following approval from the National Transport Authority (NTA).

As part of our continued investment in regional connectivity across the West of Ireland, these new services are designed to meet increasing passenger demand while delivering greater convenience, flexibility, and accessibility for all travellers.

Starting Sunday, 24th May 2026, the Galway–Ballina route will see:

  • Three new daily return services

Road Surfacing Works On Lower Newcastle RoadUpdated: 07/05/2026

Please be advised that John Madden & Sons Ltd, on behalf of Galway City Council, will commence road resurfacing works on Lower Newcastle Road from Monday 11th May 2026 for three consecutive weeks (until approx. May 28th)

These works will take place over four consecutive nights — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, between 19:00 and 06:00am each night.

Traffic management will be in place during these works and will include:

  • Stop/Go systems
  • Temporary lane closures
  • Localised diversions where required


As a result, some delays are expected. Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time.
 
The following Route 923 services could be affected by delays on the aforementioned dates:
 
20:00 Galway-Clifden
17:45 Cleggan-19:00 Clifden-Galway
 
While we don't expect any changes at present, we recommend that passengers travelling to/from Newcastle Post Office on the above named services regularly check our Service Updates for Route 923 in case of any temporary adjustments to our Newcastle Post Office stop once these works commence.

Tuam Athletic Club 5K Road Race Updated: 12/05/2026

Tuam Athletic Club is organising a 5K Road Race in Tuam on Tuesday 19th May 2026. As the runners will start to gather on Joe O’Toole Road (near our usual bus stop) at 19:30, the road will remain inaccessible until approx. 20:10 as a result. During this time, a temporary stop will be in operation. 

Affected Service: 

Temporary Stop: opp. Corrib Oil Tuam H54 A090 (across the road from Corrib Oil/Circle K). See map here.

19:25 Galway – 20:10 Tuam – Ballina 

Please note: Our temporary pick up and drop off point for that time, opp. Corrib Oil Tuam H54 A090 is a 10 minute walk from our usual stop.

All other services will pick up & drop off at our usual stop adjacent Presentation College (High Cross College) as normal.
