Irish Citylink reduces frequency of Coach services between Galway City and Shannon Airport.

Effective from Monday, 22 Feb 10, Irish Citylink will reduce their departures to 6 services daily. Passenger numbers through Shannon Airport have dropped significantly (12%) in the last 12 months and with further declines expected it is no longer viable for Citylink to continue operating additional frequency.

Closure of Cork Call Centre from 1st February 2010

This move follows the introduction of our newly designed website in Oct 09 which provides a more efficient and effective reservation system benefiting passenger bookings. As a result, there has been a sharp decline in demand for our call centre services in Cork and it is no longer cost effective to operate this facility.  Our new improved, user friendly website allows customers to book on-line 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, providing updates on all services on a regular basis and will continue to be developed and improved to ensure the highest level of Customer service is maintained.  Our Customers can still make enquiries through Citylink’s website

Citylink Passenger Numbers Soar As Thousand Choose To Go With The Cheapest Coach Travel In Ireland

Irish Citylink, the most comprehensive provider of express coach travel in Ireland, has experienced unprecedented numbers of passengers on its services since introducing the 1 Euro, ‘Super Singles’, ticket and the new direct service between Galway and Dublin/Airport.

Delighted passengers have flooded Citylink’s call centre, logged on in their thousands to the Citylink website and flocked to coach stations, throughout Ireland, in an attempt to secure the cheapest travel tickets on the market.

Cathy Cullen, Managing Director of Irish Citylink said:

“We’ve been inundated with inquiries and not just from passengers within Ireland, but also from overseas.”

As Ms Cullen explained, the response has taken her by surprise:

“We knew that the public would welcome the choice of low cost ticket prices and whilst we cannot offer every passenger a 1 Euro ticket, we have alerted them to the fact that we are the cheapest transport provider out there.”

And with other operators choosing to increase their ticket pricing on certain services, such as those operating on University routes, by as much as 2 Euros, Citylink is preparing for a further increase in passenger numbers.

“Passengers are clearly looking for transport partners to work with them on delivering affordable, reliable, and comfortable travel solutions, in these difficult times, and we intend to do just that.”

And if Citylinks enquiries and ticket sales are anything to go by they’re not only helping our customers to save money, but they are also encouraging tourism to the Emerald Isle. And that can only be a good thing for everyone.

Citylink passenger numbers increased by 30% in the two week period following the launch of the ‘Super Singles’ ticketing scheme on 1st October, 2009.
