Citylink, Ireland’s intercity coach service has announced the return of its Galway -Shannon Airport service. The service will commence on Monday 31st May 2004.
The new direct coach service linking Galway and Shannon Airport will have 4 services daily in each direction, departing Galway from 6am until 4pm and Shannon Airport from 8.30am until 7.30pm daily. The timetable has been integrated with the flight arrival and departure schedule at Shannon Airport to ensure optimum customer convenience.
Commenting on the return of the route, Mr Allen Parker, Managing Director of Citylink said:
“I am delighted to announce the re-introduction of this route as and from Monday 31st May 2004. I would like to thank all of the local businesses and customers for the support that we have received in the last few months. We have worked closely with Shannon Airport to tailor this service to meet customer requirements and its introduction will significantly improve the transportation links between Shannon Airport and Galway."
Allen commented:
"To mark the commencement of this service and reward everyone for all their support Citylink is offering special introductory fares from an unbelievable €5 single between Galway and Shannon Airport available for a limited period only and subject to availability. Tickets can be purchased on our website www.citylink.ie, by telephoning 091 564164, from the driver or from the Citylink Office in the Galway Tourist Office."
In welcoming the announcement, Martin Moroney, Airport Director, Aer Rianta Shannon said:
"This is great news for Shannon Airport. The re-introduction of high quality, timely, direct services to Galway City will have the potential to deliver significant passenger numbers to the airport. Today’s announcement shows that we are continually working to develop services at Shannon Airport to satisfy the demands of the travelling public".
He added:
"I look forward to working with Citylink in developing their services from Shannon in the coming months".
Citylink is committed to offering the travelling public quality, frequent great value for money coach service.
"We would like to offer more services and choices but it’s not easy because of the way in which the Government controls competition," continued Mr Parker. "We believe the current process is not in the public’s interest and competition is badly needed. We urge the Minister of Transport to finish his talks with the unions and to finally introduce further competition into the public transport area as he promised early last year."
