Galway – Shannon Airport coach service to cease operation
Citylink regret to inform its customers that due to a technical licensing issue it will cease its direct coach service linking Galway and Shannon Airport from Wednesday 31st December 2003.
Citylink introduced this new service in June 2003 following extensive research that demonstrated that there was significant customer demand, which was not being met at that time, for a direct coach service linking Galway and Shannon Airport. The introduction of the new route was welcomed and supported by Aer Rianta, Shannon Airport Western Alliance, Shannon Airport Airline operators and Airport Users Committee, Travel Agents and customers. It has been widely accepted that the Citylink service would considerably improve transportation links between Shannon Airport and Galway and would be a major enabling factor in the commercial, social and economic development of the Shannon and Galway regions.
The success of the service has proven that demand does exist and Citylink would like to thank the 10,000 customers who have availed of the service to date and apologise for any inconvenience that this decision may cause. A full refund on any un-used ticket will be available from the Citylink Office, Tourist Office, Forster Street, Galway. We hope to be in a position to re-introduce this service in the near future..
Citylink plans to introduce a network of intercity coach services over the next three years and to delivering customer-focused value for money services to the traveling public. We eagerly await the introduction of an environment that will facilitate the provision of a competitive, convenient and consumer led intercity coach market in Ireland.
